"You've finally figured out how to get paid to go on walks!" Exclaimed my longtime friend while he, his family and I were out walking with my camera. I doubled over laughing. He nailed it! In my life, I have derived the most consistent joy from meandering endlessly in nature and now I get to meander with clients.
Let's walk into your heart so we can walk out with evidence of what it's like in there. I strive to keep the experience simple, so it doesn't feel too much like someone is taking your picture, but more like you're on a walk with a friend. Focusing less on technical precision and giving more weight to moving through moments quickly helps preserve an element of surprise that keeps the emotional landscape honest.
A photoshoot generally takes 1-2 hours, sometimes all day, but it can also happen in 15-minutes. The experience is as unique as the soul that shows up to be seen. Some people are comfortable in front of a camera and for others it is a very vulnerable process. No matter where you are on the scale of comfort, I am prepared to meet you in the exact space you are in and excavate ease as we journey.
I take special interest in transitions; extracting presence from moments that hover between past and future—where humans grasp for themselves—divide and reunite. When considering a photoshoot, I invite you to think outside the box. Don't just sign up when you are feeling your best, consider documenting your process during a state of transition. To be photographed during such a time is like having a magnifying glass held up to your spirit and getting to observe the truth of your becoming and in most cases, that means truth of your strength and resolve.
